Our group participated in the EC IST project (IST-027968) Automated Legal Intelligent System (ALIS), which aimed at investigating automated reasoning in computational logic and game theory in the legal domain.

Our task in the project was to develop information extraction technology that allows to bridge the gap between legal textual documents and the ontologies upon which the reasoning modules were operating.

The participation in the project resulted in substantial advances in the research of efficient large scale multilabel classification and information extraction with techniques from machine learning, including the development of the large multilabel text-classification benchmark dataset EUR-Lex and the following publications:
